Can I get rid of phobias with Autosuggestion?

In FAQs on November 17, 2008 at 10:03 am

Phobias are complex and irrational fears that often occur due to some unresolved issues in your past. Whenever a serious issue occurs in your life, your subconscious mind learns a lesson out of it and decides on a preventive method. These preventive methods sometimes result in phobias. So phobias are the subconscious mind’s way of self preservation. To remove such phobias completely you must alter your subconscious perception of the actual issue in the past.

Using Autosuggestion on 9Dozen you can manage such fears. But if you need to remove phobias completely you must seek a certified hypnotherapist’s help.

Is there any particular time of the day to type affirmations?

In FAQs on November 17, 2008 at 10:00 am

You can type affirmations any time of the day. Early morning is a particularly good time to type your affirmations. Also, it is beneficial if you can have an autosuggestion session before going to bed in the night. Especially so if the issue you are dealing with is about sleep or dreaming.

Whatever schedule you are following, see to it that you are calm and relaxed before beginning the session. If you are a bit disturbed, practise physical relaxation before you begin the Autosuggestion session.

It is also a good idea to start your session with affirmations of relaxation like ‘I am relaxed and calm‘ before beginning the session for the actual issue at hand.

What is the correct spelling for my chant/mantra?

In FAQs on November 17, 2008 at 9:59 am

Confusion over the spelling of chants usually arises when the chant is in another language – like Sanskrit, Arabic, Latin, Urdu, etc. The way such chants are written in English varies from region to region. Follow your local custom or write a spelling that you feel is right. You may follow the shortly spelled word for the purpose of reducing your typing time for each chant. However, see to it the meaning and the sound of the chant remain the same.

How to use the Chants feature?

In FAQs on November 17, 2008 at 9:55 am

There are two ways you can make use of the Chants feature. One way is to use it to type your favorite mantra or chant over and over for as many times you are supposed to. Another way is ‘chant copy paste’ method. In this method you use this Chant feature to mentally repeat the chant you want and then copy paste that chant in the Chant box to keep count of number of times you repeated the chant mentally.

The typing method can be more effective but you can also do mental chant at times when your schedule is busy.

How many affirmations can I give myself at a time?

In FAQs on November 16, 2008 at 11:15 am

It is better to stick to one Autosuggestion program at a time. You can give yourself affirmations for two topics only if they are related. For instance, it is fine to take up two Autosuggestion programs – one for removing stage fear and the other for reducing general anxiety because they are related to each other. But if you want to give affirmations for procrastination and removal of nail biting, it is better you deal with one issue first and take up the second after a few days.

Even in case of related issues, it is very important that you give each topic a seperate sitting and also give a gap of atleast two hours between each sitting. For instance, if you are doing an Autosuggestion session for stage fear, then give a gap of two hours or more before doing an Autosuggestion session for anxiety reduction.

Can I listen to music while typing chants?

In FAQs on November 16, 2008 at 11:11 am

You can play some devotional chants or religious music. You can also play other soft music if you like, but stick to instrumental music or nature sounds like flowing water, bird sounds, etc.

How many times should I type one affirmation?

In FAQs on November 16, 2008 at 11:09 am

Repetition strenghtens your belief. Try to type a minimum of twenty times per sitting. It is better if you can have two or more sittings per day initially and have a sitting before you go to sleep. Meanwhile start observing changes in you, they are indicators of success and a little success will help strengthen your new belief enormously.

If you feel there is very little change even after repeated typing, reframe the sentence. Or better, start over from the beginning and define your goals again. See where you could have made a mistake. Always use positive statements and words you are comfortable with.

Note: For issues like phobias, susbstance abuse, manic depression, excessive overweight, anorexia, etc. see ‘Problems that can be solved using Autosuggestion‘.

Guidelines for typing chants

In FAQs on November 16, 2008 at 11:07 am

Choose a chant that is comfortable for you.
Make sure you understand what the chant means.
If the chant is the name of a God, contemplate on the form of the God while you type.
Type a minumum number of times (say 20 times) per sitting.
Medidate over the meaning of the chant every time you type.
Typing chants just before you begin your work, study or other important tasks can be beneficial.
Be steady and consistent in your daily sittings. Hurrying can demotivate you over a period of time.
Observe silence during your chants. Or you can repeat the chant orally while typing.
Spread the good word. Share chants with family and friends.

How to frame affirmations?

In FAQs on November 16, 2008 at 11:05 am
Keep your statements simple and straightforward.
Eg.
Use:
I am relaxed and calm throughout my office hours.
Avoid:
I am very relaxed at any point of the day and remain calm during my office hours in spite of the hectic schedule and heavy workload.

Use words that you understand and are comfortable with.

Always keep your affirmations positive. If you want to get rid of an unwanted personality trait in you, write down the opposite state of mind you must achieve in order to replace the unwanted one.

Eg.
Use:
I love life and enjoy living every moment of it.
Avoid:
I am less depressed about living.

Affirmations are new beliefs of the mind. So frame them as such. Sentences expressing desires are bad autosuggesions.

Eg:
Use:
I am focussed and determined. I complete every project I take up. (establishes a new belief)

Avoid:
I want to be more focussed and I should not lose interest in projects halfway through.

Affirmations must describe what you want to achieve. And they should state it as if you have already achieved what you wanted.

Eg.
Use:
I have a powerful memory. (describes you after you achieved your goal.)
Avoid:
My memory is improving.

Avoid using the word ‘not’ in any affirmation.

Eg:
Use:
I have a great physical stamina. I am in excellent health
Avoid:
I am not physically weak.

Limit affirmations to a sentence or two.

You can remove punctuation marks if you feel they are difficult to type and are hampering you. Similarly you can type the entire sentence in lower case or upper case.

How to be successful in autosuggestion?

In FAQs on November 16, 2008 at 11:02 am

Follow the below steps to better achieve your goals:

Step 1: Write your goal
What is your goal? What you want to achieve with the help of autosuggestions. Write it down. Remember, you should write down what positive state you want to be in, instead of what problem you want to get rid of.

Eg: If you want to be less short-tempered, your goal is to be a calm, peaceful and understanding person.

Step 2: Imagine success
Imagine or Visualize a scene where you have achieved your goal and you are using your new strenghts effectively.

Eg: Imagine yourself as being understanding and calm in a situation where you would usually lose your temper. Imagine your family admiring your patience and understanding.

Step 3: Write autosuggestions
Simply convert the positive goal you have already written into your autosuggestion. For more about sentence structure of autosuggestion see ‘How to frame an autosuggestion sentence?’.

Step 4: Read autosuggestions
Read your autosuggestions to silently in your mind and try to grasp the full meaning of the sentences you have written.

Step 5: Start typing
Begin typing. Type with deliberate slowness. It is important to contemplate on the meaning of the sentence you are typing. You must do this for the first twenty one times you type the sentence. Later, you can let your mind wander away while your typing.

Step 6: Just read through your typed text
After you finish typing your autosuggestion for the day, just gaze through your entire typed text calmly for a few seconds. Then hit the close chant suggestion to exit out of the page.

Step 6: Repeat consistently
Type a minimum of twenty times per sitting. It is very important to give your eyes and body rest whenever they feel tired. Try to keep each sitting less than ten minutes. Maintain healthy sitting posture while typing.

Repeat the same autosuggestion every day or twice a day. Repetition is one very important key to success. There may be many previous negative suggestions and beliefs in your mind; repetition of positive autosuggestions will alter your belief system effectively.
